Utah Club Volleyball
Club volleyball in Utah is a competitive program that runs outside of the school season, usually from November through May. Players attend tryouts, get placed on a team by age and skill level, and then train two to three times a week in local gyms. Teams play in weekend tournaments, mostly in Utah, with some traveling out of state depending on the level of the team.
The purpose of club is to give athletes more coaching, better training, and a lot more playing time than they typically get in a school season. It helps players develop their skills, improve their understanding of the game, and prepare for high school varsity or even college opportunities down the road. It’s definitely a commitment, but it’s also where players build strong friendships, grow in confidence, and really fall in love with the sport.

Utah Club Volleyball partners with many tournament directors, clubs, and various venues to host high quality AAU sanctioned events in Utah at all levels of play. You can find a club to join a team near you. See our schedule to find available weekends your age group can play. We compile results from all our events to help with seeding future tournaments.
The AAU sanctioned tournaments we host typically offer three different levels of play within an age group every weekend:
Club - lowest level for teams still developing most skills
Premier - 2nd tier teams with a good command of most skills
Open - most experienced teams looking for the highest level of play
Power - most experienced teams looking for the highest level of play on two specific weekends, this division is NOT age-specific, and teams must qualify at a seeding event

Laulima Volleyball Club - FAQ
-
At Laulima Volleyball Club, our season typically starts with tryouts in late October or early November. Practices begin shortly after teams are formed, and we train through the winter and spring, with most tournaments running from January through May. Depending on the team level, some groups may finish in March or April, while travel or national teams often continue into June if they qualify for postseason events. Overall, families can plan on a seven to eight month commitment from tryouts to the end of the season.
-
When you pay club fees at Laulima, you’re covering the real costs that allow your athlete to train, compete, and develop in a well-supported environment. Your money goes toward gym rental for practices, tournament entry fees, and qualified coaching. It also helps cover uniforms, equipment, administrative needs, and basic insurance. We do everything we can to keep our fees transparent and focused on what actually benefits the players on the court.
-
What sets Laulima apart from other volleyball clubs is our focus on quality over quantity. We keep teams small with no more than 10 players so each athlete gets more time on the court, individual attention, and real competitive experience. Every coach is chosen based on the values of the club, and each team has multiple coaches to provide proper guidance and support. At Laulima, we focus on learning, growing, and building skills in a family-like environment. We are locally run and driven by a love for the sport, not profit.
-
Yes, we offer discounts and scholarships each year to help families in different situations. Our goal is to make it possible for every eager and capable player to participate, regardless of their financial situation. We work with families to ensure players who want to be part of Laulima Volleyball Club have the opportunity to play.
-
The commitment at Laulima Volleyball Club typically includes two practices each week and at least one weekend tournament per month. Beyond that, there are optional events, extra practices, or private lessons available if families request them from the coach or club owners. We ask that players and parents are committed to attending practices and tournaments so athletes can grow and the team can perform at its best, but we also work with families to make participation manageable.
